RIBA champions better buildings, communities and the environment through architecture and our members.

At RIBA we believe that good design improves everybody’s quality of life. It can ensure homes meet people’s needs, create inspiring environments for students to learn and hospitals that improve health outcomes.

The role of the External Affairs department is to campaign for good design, developing ideas and new research to deliver better outcomes for society. Working within the External Affairs department, you will be managing a small team to undertake policy and think-tank projects and a comprehensive public affairs programme. A strong, credible individual with excellent written and oral communication and research skills and a strong knowledge of Westminster and Whitehall, you will campaign for better buildings and help to shape our policy influence.

You will have substantial experience of research and policy development or public affairs within a working environment as well as previous management experience with the ability to think strategically and with a broad perspective.
