You will be joining one of Europe’s leading innovation policy think tanks, responsible for researching and developing new and better ideas for understanding and supporting innovation in the economy for public benefit.

About this diverse new role

Reporting to the Head of Innovation Policy, your primary aim is to distil research and complex ideas into compelling messages and policy recommendations. This will see you focus on content and editorial, working closely with the innovation policy teams to hone arguments, messages and policy proposals from Nesta’s innovation policy research and analysis programme, plus devising communications plans and coordinating their delivery. You will also be expected to:

  • Lead the design and organisation of workshops and events aimed at policy, political or industry audiences;
  • Proactively keep abreast of current innovation policy debates and trends and use judgement to target communications for greatest impact;
  • Undertake research for blogs, op eds and other outputs;
  • Develop the profile and brand of Nesta’s work on innovation policy and ensure it is well understood, both internally and externally.

What we are looking for

An outstanding writer and editor, you will have a flair for writing for the audiences relevant for this role developed in either think tanks, journalism, public affairs, academia or government. You will also have an impressive track record of distilling research and complex ideas into briefs, articles, recommendations and other targeted communications outputs.

Collaborative, entrepreneurial and proactive, strong cross-team project management experience is vital, as is a proven background of designing events and workshops and an interest in technology, innovation, public policy, politics, and economics.
