Job Description:

The role is based within our client’s Policy and Public Affairs Team. The Policy Manager will be charged with producing high quality policy reports and other materials to support the public voice and knowledge transfer goals of our client.

You will:

  • Support the promotion of our client’s public voice and external affairs strategy;
  • Lead on managing the delivery of our client’s annual flagship policy report for 2020;
  • Produce reports, policy statements and responses to government consultations and select committee inquiries;
  • Analyse political, economic and industry developments to ensure that policy projects address the most salient issues affecting civil engineering and the infrastructure sector;
  • Lead the development of policy across multiple programmes and projects;
  • Enable knowledge transfer from our client to key policymakers and industry leaders;
  • Enable communications colleagues to respond to media requests to promote profile and support informed debate;
  • Support senior staff and members in developing relationships with civil servants, think tanks, industry leaders, academics and others.

Essential skills:

  • The successful applicant will be familiar with and comfortable working with senior figures in politics, the civil service and industry;
  • Extensive experience of carrying out research, report drafting, responding to government consultations, as well as a thorough understanding of the public policy making processes;
  • Stakeholder engagement – both internally and externally;
  • Excellent drafting skills – report writing skills.
