Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

This is an opportunity to work in an excellent trade association where you will engage with government, regulators and prominent industry stakeholders from across the UK and EU. It is a chance for you to work on highly visible initiatives that are of great benefit to businesses and wider society.

This position requires the ability to work with a large and diverse selection of external stakeholders, work across the full range of policy issues, undertake analysis of complex issues coupled by the ability to communicate this analysis clearly and effectively to a broad audience.

The ideal candidate will have a background in policy development with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Duties

  • Assist in delivering projects and programmes; this will involve preparing and writing reports, articles and letters on specific policy;
  • Engage with stakeholders, regulators and industry on the development of policy positions and the ongoing development of current projects;
  • Monitor ongoing developments in the market and relevant policy debate, including the analysis of new data regarding network deployment;
  • Assist with the execution of existing and new contact programmes including arranging and scheduling meetings and events, supporting press relations and public affairs activity, web and social media communications and organising dinners and conferences;
  • Represent the organisation in external fora, stakeholder meetings and public events.

Skills

  • An understanding of the UK and European political systems and policy formulation processes;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • An analytical and inquiring mind;
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and experience of building networks through personal relationships;
  • An enthusiastic team player who is keen and able to take initiative;
  • Experience of managing or supporting multiple projects with excellent organisational skills;
  • Experience of event organisation is desirable;
  • Experience of working in, knowledge of or passion for the relevant sector - please apply to find out more;
