Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

A charity is seeking an ambitious and experienced policy expert to lead their policy work by developing powerful, evidence-based accessible policy positions and messages. The Policy Manager will be responsible for representing these policy positions to external audiences including the media and policymakers.

You will be responsible for:

  • Working with academics and clinicians to help develop clear policy analysis;
  • Responding to and influencing national policy across the UK e.g. guidelines, policies, consultations, strategies;
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with relevant media, civil servants and politicians and communicate policy positions;
  • Analysing and translating knowledge related research into policy positions which are consistent with the organisation’s strategic aims and priorities.

Essential skills:

  • Understanding of the delivery of health services in the UK;
  • Excellent influencing skills with the ability to persuade effectively and deliver convincing arguments;
  • Strong analytical evaluative skills, including ability to understand and analyse complex issues;
  • Substantial experience in developing policy analysis and materials in support of policy statements, advocacy and campaigns which have influenced changes in policy, practice or funding.
