How much you achieve in life should not be determined by how much your parents earn. Yet in the UK, it too often is. We believe in the power of education to change this. Teach First is an education charity working in partnership with schools and other organisations to break the link between low family income and poor educational attainment.

We’re looking for a confident individual to step into this role to build on and maintain the charity’s profile, reputation and influence with policy makers and shakers. As Policy Officer you will develop the policy voice within the organisation and ensure Teach First’s position is focused towards the charity’s strategy as set out in the 2022 Fair Education Impact Goals. To achieve these goals, there is an increasing need for Teach First to influence public policy and system-wide changes.

You will work closely with the Senior Public Affairs & Policy Adviser and the Research, Evaluation & Impact department to ensure policy statements are integrated with our press and public affairs work and organisation reviews and evaluations inform policy development. This is a vital role to the organisations growth and development in creating advocacy of education and social mobility.

To succeed in this role, you’ll have a strong belief in the Teach First vision and solid experience in education policy. You’ll be able to prioritise and manage a varied workload, and will stand behind your work with integrity. You’ll be a strong written and verbal communicator with the ability to analyse and assimilate information for a wide range of stakeholders and audiences.

This is an exciting opportunity for a driven individual to be the spokesperson for Teach First policy and promote our positions on education to ensure no child’s educational success is limited by their socio-economic background.
