An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Policy Researcher (economic development) for a think tank.

The role will involve:

Delivering and executing projects:

  • Deliver research and consultancy tasks and outputs to a high standard of quality, including – crucially – written reports;
  • Completing research and consultancy tasks on projects to time and budget.

Intellectual capital and capacity:

  • Critical thinking and analysis; creative thinking; problem solving; and decision making;
  • Expert policy knowledge;
  • Understanding of research methodologies and their appropriate application, strong analytical ability;
  • Excellent report writing skills and high level presentational skills.

Client management and interpersonal skills:

  • Clear and effective communication skills;
  • Ability to manage external relationships (client and partner companies);
  • Developing constructive, productive and sustainable relationships with colleagues, collaborators/associates, clients and potential clients.

Our client is looking for:

  • Knowledge and experience of national policy and its implementation at a local level through local authorities, regeneration, economic development  and LEPs and so on;
  • Skills and experience of working with senior policy makers, politicians and decision makers across a wide range of organisations;
  • High level analytical and writing skills to produce high quality reports, strategies and plans - Organised, methodical and attentive to detail;
  • Good communication skills  – able to take complex information and communicate it to others succinctly;
  • Educated to degree level - First / Upper Second Class undergraduate degree in a relevant subject and/or relevant higher degree;
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently but who enjoys working in a dynamic and flexible environment and can work effectively as part of a team.
