Tulchan Communications is a leading financial communications advisory firm. We specialise in advising companies on building and maintaining their reputation within the Capital Markets and the financial media that reports and comments upon them. We also help our clients engage with regulatory and political audiences on a range of public policy issues.

We are looking to strengthen our public affairs offering through the appointment of a political analyst.

The Role:

  • Monitoring political and public policy developments of interest to Tulchan’s client base;
  • Provide research support to client teams and for new business opportunities;
  • The role is both an internal resource for colleagues and one with a client focus, for example through the provision of timely and relevant political monitoring;
  • Opportunity to develop sector expertise and obtain significant public affairs experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely, relevant and informed political monitoring to a range of clients. Sources include Parliament, think-tanks, blogs, social media and a wide range of stakeholders;
  • Provide verbal and written updates to colleagues and clients, as appropriate;
  • Produce, edit and distribute relevant briefings;
  • Attend external events relevant to the firm / clients;
  • Support Tulchan’s public affairs offering through research and ad hoc projects.

Key requirements:

  • Strong awareness of political issues and the policy process;
  • First rate written and verbal communication skills;
  • Eye for detail;
  • Discretion and diplomacy;
  • Very good organisational and research skills;
  • Time management / ability to manage multiple projects.

Desirable:

  • Experience of Parliament / political consultancy / in-house public affairs;
  • Commercial awareness.
