We are currently looking for a Principal Policy Advisor for Energy to work closely with a group of the industry’s leading experts to formulate policy positions and to take both proactive and reactive steps to influence government thinking and decision making.

The energy sector is in the midst of major change as it seeks to decarbonise whilst maintaining secure and affordable energy supplies for all, which has created a dynamic and complex policy landscape. The IET is a respected and trusted advisor to government on energy issues, with excellent existing relationships with government and select committees, and a track record of significantly impact in policymaking.

This is a dynamic and busy opportunity in which you would be making a real impact. You would be working in a small team which supports policy across the whole of the IET’s interests, which include transport, information technology, telecommunications, innovation and skills as well as energy.

As a strong communicator, you will be expected to represent the IET on external groups and take a pro-active approach to work. Exceptional written communication skills are essential as you will be producing written papers to a high standard of presentation and argument.
