Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

The Local Government Association speaks with one voice on behalf of local government in England and Wales. Made up of elected representatives from all the different political parties, we aim to set the political agenda and have our say in the national media on the issues that matter to council members. There has never been a more exciting time to work for us. We are seeking a highly motivated Public Affairs and Campaigns Adviser to promote local government and the LGA to our national politicians and key stakeholders.

About the job:

Key duties will include writing briefings, drafting speeches, lobbying parliamentarians on legislation, preparing for select committee inquiries and organising political events. You will also be expected to play a key role in our campaigns and provide strategic advice to the LGA on a range of public policy issues relating to local government.

About you:

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate experience of having worked in a fast moving political, parliamentary, and / or public affairs environment, managing a diverse workload and completing projects on tight deadlines. A strong and practical understanding of parliamentary procedure is essential. You will need outstanding communication skills and be highly organised. You will need to be an enthusiastic team player and to be able to quickly develop good working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, both internally and externally.
