Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

As our Public Affairs Assistant, you will assist the Head of Public Affairs and Public Affairs Managers in deploying an extensive programme of Parliamentary engagement, and a complementary programme of high level engagement with key national stakeholders in the private, public and voluntary sectors.

This role requires the ability to produce high quality briefing material to make the case for the biggest infrastructure project in Britain, explaining complex issues and securing active support for HS2. As Parliament will take the ultimate decision as to whether HS2 goes ahead, your role will be key to the successful delivery of the programme.

For this key role, you will possess:

  • A strong grasp of accuracy and detail, and the ability to quickly comprehend complex new information;
  • The ability to work with complex technical, economic, policy and political material, and to translate this into briefing material;
  • The ability to write concise, accessible briefing material and communications materials, with the skill to adapt these to different audiences;
  • A proactive approach to seeking out information that may be useful to our work, from across different departments and organisations;
  • An understanding of the public affairs and engagement activity this material is intended to inform.
