The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

I am currently recruiting a 12 month fixed term contract for a Public Affairs Manager with a renowned organisation in the arts and culture field.

You will:

  • Shape corporate messaging and produce high impact corporate documents and briefing papers, including speeches, articles and quotes, the annual review and responses to relevant consultations;
  • Lead all PR and media relations campaigns and outputs centred around Southbank Centre’s corporate profile- including drafting press releases and statements, maintaining relationships with media contacts and ensuring all databases of contacts are regularly updated;
  • Identify and secure opportunities within artistic policy, learning and participation, corporate reputation, cultural destination and soft diplomacy to influence policy makers and opinion formers;
  • Establish and maintain regular contact with politicians, political advisers, civil servants, non-departmental public bodies, funders and regulators, keeping them informed about our work and policy priorities. Deliver a multi-tier stakeholder engagement programme that furthers our business priorities, builds strategic partnerships and utilises opportunities to raise awareness of our role in the sector;
  • Oversee all monitoring of relevant political issues, identifying policy opportunities and challenges, identifying and effectively targeting key influencers and understanding their aims, undertaking briefings and drafting letters as appropriate;
  • Support the artistic programming team in shaping and organising relevant debates and discussions involving key external affairs stakeholders.

You will have:

  • Solid experience working in public affairs and policy areas and a sound grasp of UK politics;
  • Substantial corporate communications experience, including developing media campaigns, handling difficult issues and crisis based media and multi-tier stakeholder relations;
  • Solid management experience and a flair for proactively developing ambitious strategies that meet organisational objectives;
  • Proven experience working for a fast-paced, busy organisation with a strong issues-based agenda;
  • First-class analytical skills with the ability to craft and deliver key messages that convey complex ideas in a simple way; excellent attention to detail;
  • Excellent communication skills, with strong writing skills and the ability to present and explain information in a logical, engaging way;
  • A record of influencing opinion at a senior level, building partnerships with other organisations and networks in the political sphere, creative and media industries.
