UNIFE represents the European rail supply industry in Brussels since 1992. The Association gathers 80 of Europe’s leading large and medium-sized rail supply companies, active in the design, manufacture, maintenance and refurbishment of rail transport systems, subsystems and related equipment. A further one thousand suppliers of railway equipment partake in UNIFE activities through 15 national rail industry associations. UNIFE Members have an 84% market share in Europe and supply 46% of the worldwide production of rail equipment and services.

UNIFE represents its Members’ interests at the level of both European and international institutions. Moreover, UNIFE informs its Members on all European policies and funding instruments of interest for the sector.

Job description:

We are looking for a Public Affairs Manager who will be responsible for:

- The whole portfolio of European (and even international) funding for rail infrastructure and rolling stock (incl. CEF and TEN-T corridors; Structural Funds and Cohesion Fund; EIB and EBRD instruments, etc.)

Tasks: the Public Affairs Manager will be in charge of developing a guide on all existing sources of public funding, monitoring the potential Calls for Proposals of interest to UNIFE member companies, following the development of the European Commission’s Investment policy, steering an awareness-raising campaign in all Member States (in particular in Central and Eastern Europe) on the use of Structural Funds for rail, etc.

- Research analysis and monitoring of international markets’ developments (in coordination with both Public Affairs Managers responsible for International Affairs and for the UNIFE World Rail Market Study)

Tasks: the Public Affairs Manager will be in charge of gathering and providing information about the developments of the rail sector (foreseen investment, procurement policy, regulatory framework...) on the key international markets.

He/she will assist the relevant internal working groups of the Association.

Candidate’s requirements:

  • Master’s degree in economics, law or political sciences with proven professional experience;
  • Knowledge of EU transport policy is an advantage;
  • Previous experience with European and international funding instruments is an asset;
  • The candidate must be fluent in English; knowledge of other European – particularly Central and Eastern European – languages is an advantage;
  • Strong coordination/organisation skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Rigorous, detail oriented and strong analytical skills;
  • Ability to work both independently and closely with all members of the UNIFE team;
  • Willingness to travel abroad on a regular basis.
