The Law Society represents solicitors in England and Wales. From negotiating with and lobbying the profession's regulators, government and other decision makers, to offering training and advice, we're here to help, protect and promote solicitors.
We are recruiting a Public Affairs Manager to lead the Society’s engagement with senior stakeholders in order to help the Society increase the impact of its engagement with external audiences. Managing two direct reports, and reporting to the Head of Public Affairs, the post holder will help draft and deliver an influencing strategy. They will ensure the efficient monitoring, analysis and internal dissemination of stakeholder information, in order that appropriate internal stakeholders are aware of developments in public policy, and lead on strategic advice on better engagement with our stakeholders.
Essential
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and experience:
- Degree, equivalent qualification or equivalent experience;
- Substantive experience of managing stakeholder relationships within a complex organisation;
- Experience of stakeholder mapping and prioritisation, and drafting an engagement or influencing strategy;
- Excellent written communication skills and the ability quickly to assimilate complex information;
- Strong stakeholder management abilities, with expertise in influencing and developing relationships with senior level stakeholders;
- Ability to work in a fast paced and issues rich environment with a strong member/customer focus;
- Excellent presentation, social and networking skills and the ability confidently to represent the Law Society to stakeholders across a wide range of arenas;
- Experience of people and/or project management.
Desirable
- Expertise in managing external suppliers and agencies;
- Event management knowledge and experience (from a client perspective);
- Knowledge of the legal and professional services sectors, regulation and public policy.
