A high profile healthcare organisation is currently seeking a Public Affairs Manager to join their high performing Communications and External Affairs Directorate.

This is a proactive public affairs role where the successful candidate will be an integral part of an evidence based external affairs and policy department. You will be responsible for taking the lead on a programme of Westminster and Whitehall engagement in order to further enhance the organisation’s reputation as a thought leader and influential voice in the healthcare policy debate. 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Development and implementation of a high impact and influential public affairs strategy;
  • Leading a targeted stakeholder engagement strategy with key organisations and individuals across the healthcare landscape;
  • Advocating on behalf of the organisation on legislation, consultations, parliamentary inquiries or other areas of interest to the organisation;
  • Providing strategic counsel to the senior leadership team in advance of public and official appearances;
  • Line managing 2 members of staff.

To be considered, candidates should be able to clearly demonstrate the following in terms of knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Education to degree level or equivalent;
  • Demonstrable experience of working as a public affairs practitioner in a healthcare related environment;
  • Evidence of strong influencing skills with experience of working at a senior level with gravitas and credibility, managing successful campaigns;
  • Knowledge of public policy concerns in the current healthcare climate;
  • Politically astute with the ability to operate at a strategic level;
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) with the ability to adapt style to suit different audiences;
  • Line and budget management experience is essential.
