We have a great opportunity for a newly created role of Public Affairs Manager to play a key role in our Policy and Involvement team.

Papworth Trust is a leading disability charity with over 90 years’ experience of championing equality, providing choice and promoting independence.

We want a driven and influential Public Affairs Manager to manage and deliver our charity’s public affairs and political engagement programme, working closely with our Leadership Team to drive social change around disability issues and awareness at a political level.

As a Public Affairs Manager, responsibilities would include:

  • Actively leading political influencing as a campaigner, influencer and lobbyist;
  • Establishing key relationships with politicians, researchers and other stakeholders, highlighting opportunities for the charity;
  • Driving the charity’s online and offline messaging on policy and political issues;
  • Supporting the CEO and External Relations Director in partnering and growing the charity’s reputation and credibility among relevant audiences and opinion-formers;
  • Develop communications to maximise services and opportunities for the charity, reviewing and reporting their impact and effectiveness;

Ideal candidates for this role will be familiar with the charity sector and will have skills and experience including:

  • Working knowledge of UK Parliamentary and local government structures processes and procedures and how to influence them;
  • Experience of working in a high profile role supporting and influencing at a strategic level;
  • Able to acquire, consider and summarise complex information to deliver it in a clear and concise manner;
  • Ideal candidates will have a proven track record of influencing tactics and strategies;
  • This role will require an innovative thinker who enjoys challenging situations and the opportunity to direct and motivate others;
  • Due to the nature of the role candidates will be required to undertake travel independently.
