Great Britain’s gambling industry is in a constant state of change, fuelled by shifting consumer behaviour and the rapid growth of technology. It’s high profile politically too, and the legislation controlling gambling is often under scrutiny. Within this uniquely challenging and evolving environment, the Gambling Commission’s role is to ensure that gambling is crime free, fair and open - and that children and vulnerable people are protected. Now we need you to play a key role in our future, driving the change needed to ensure that we can meet the growing complexity of the market and our developing regulatory remit.

We are now recruiting for a new role located within the busy Corporate Affairs team. It is a post that reflects the Commission’s ambition to work more closely with government and other bodies and to keep abreast of political activity, as well as encompassing the existing work that takes place on raising the Commission’s profile at key events both at home and overseas.

To be successful in this exciting role you will need an interest in political and societal issues to help focus your research on the key political contacts that we engage with as part of our stakeholder work. Alongside this you will need experience of using your excellent communication skills to help convey complex issues to different audiences which may well include political contacts as well as the general public. This role will only be suited to a self-starter who enjoys the pressures of working to tight deadlines and has excellent organisational and planning skills.

We are located in modern offices in the centre of Birmingham just a few minutes’ walk from the revitalised New Street Station and new tramline extension. Shops - including the Mailbox, New Street and Bullring shopping malls - are close-by, along with a huge range of eating places, cinemas, theatres, museum and galleries. City living is an easy option in this vibrant City-centre, which includes a huge range of canal side apartments.
