We’re here to end cruelty to children. Nothing else will do. This is an exciting opportunity to help develop a major influencing campaign aiming to bring about better support for children who have suffered abuse. The post holder will use their campaigning expertise to help develop a highly engaging campaign strategy that mobilises public support and compels decision makers to act.

We are looking for someone with a track record of success in campaigns and an excellent knowledge of best practice in campaigning tactics and digital engagement. You will need project management experience, highly developed interpersonal skills and a demonstrable ability to work with and through others to achieve objectives.

Job Purpose

To develop and deliver integrated communications campaigns in order to change laws, behaviours and influence others to adopt new and better ways to protect children.

Main Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the Policy and Public Affairs Team, to advise on where campaigning activity is the right approach to achieve objectives;
  • To develop campaign briefs and plans focusing on clear and simple objectives and develop appropriate campaign messages and approaches;
  • To co-ordinate and integrate the delivery of campaigns across the spectrum of communications disciplines namely; media, public affairs, events, supporter communications, social and digital media, internal communications and marketing (which includes advertising and the production of materials as appropriate);
  • To contribute to the development of a strategy to engage the existing community of NSPCC supporters and attract new supporters in campaigning;
  • To liaise with all departments to ensure that campaigns are developed in a way that meet their needs;
  • To keep abreast of relevant audience insight and best practice in campaigning and use that knowledge to inform campaign plans and strategies;
  • To contribute to the setting of impact measures and success criteria for campaigns and be accountable for meeting agreed key performance indicators.

Person Specification

  • Demonstrable experience in planning, delivering and measuring the impact of campaigns with tangible outcomes;
  • Excellent understanding of the campaigns and communications environment and best practice particularly relating to tactics and digital engagement;
  • Good understanding of the political and policy environment that NSPCC operates in, and ability to exercise judgement about campaign planning in this context;
  • Highly developed ability to verbally convey information to a range of audiences in a clear, inspiring and confident way to achieve desired outcomes;
  • Excellent written communication skills to interpret complex policy issues and present these in a clear and persuasive way for a wide range of audiences;
  • Ability to project manage complex campaign plans, coordinating a cross-organisational project team, with excellent organisational skills;
  • Highly developed ability to develop and maintain relationships and negotiate with a wide variety of people, including senior level individuals to achieve desired outcomes;
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and creativity in order to achieve desired outcomes.
