Join the Network

This is your opportunity to join one of Britain’s most interesting and exciting communications teams at a time of significant Government investment in the nation’s transport infrastructure.

The Department for Transport helps to give Britain’s businesses and people momentum, by improving journeys, and boosting economic growth and opportunity. With record levels of investment in rail, road, ports and airports, and a commitment to safety, security and sustainability, transport, remains one of the government’s top priorities.

The Department cannot deliver this investment on its own. We need to work effectively with external partners, explain our plans and priorities as well as to listen, understand and respond to stakeholders.

As Senior Communications Manager, you will be working at the centre of communications delivery for some of the most high profile projects in Government. You will focus on building and maintaining effective relationships across the department, with our external partners and external stakeholders; be responsible for delivery and evaluation of communications campaigns; and advise policy teams, Ministers and senior officials on all aspects of communications.

To be equal to the challenge, you will need a strong track record in campaigns, media relations, stakeholder engagement and/or public affairs. You will have strong influencing skills and a proven ability to advise and influence leaders at all levels. You will be able to work effectively on your own, as well as within a team, and confident in managing competing demands.

In return, you will benefit from extensive training opportunities and scope to develop your career with the Government Communications Service. Thanks to our extensive contact with partner organisations, you will also enjoy opportunities to strengthen your ties with industry and work on joint communications campaigns which have a national impact and profile.
