A fantastic opportunity has arisen for Senior Manager/Assistant Director of Government Affairs for a leading communications business.

You will:

  • Manage and improve perceptions and relations in government in UK;
  • Advise on government engagement abroad, working in conjunction with the Commercial and Legal departments;
  • Enabling Minister level interactions in key countries across EMEA for the CEO and EXCO;
  • Prepare and drive strategy and determines tactical actions/solutions on organisation’s policy and government affairs in the EMEA region, and ensures that appropriate actions are taken to support company internal and external regulatory and commercial activities;
  • Prepare and promote the necessary telecommunications policy matters in countries around the world are prepared and discussed at national, regional and international meetings (e.g. in ITU-D, ATU, EU, etc.) around the world (e.g. Europe, Middle-East, Africa, Asia, Americas);
  • Prepare and attend one-to-one meetings with relevant government officials to promote the organisation’s vision on telecommunications policies and promotes and defends new policies that will ensure adoption technological propositions;
  • Ensure UK Government and other Decision and Policy Makers and Advisers are fully briefed on all matters relating to the organisation’s commercial non-regulatory interests and that wherever possible that full support is secured by.

You will have:

  • Relationship management and stakeholder engagement in particular with UK, European, African and other International – National Departments, Executive Agencies and Non-Departmental Public Bodies (NDPBs), relevant Regional and Local Government, European Parliament, the European Commission, European Space Agency, the UK Space Agency and other National Space Agencies as appropriate, Trade Associations and Representational Bodies;
  • Experience in developing and handling telecommunications policy and or space policy matters; preparing responses to telecommunications and space policy consultations from governments; meeting with government officials; lobbying and promoting telecom and space policy as well as trade / export policy;
  • Experience in working with foreign government officials and regulators; having worked within a government or industry;
  • Combined related work experience in a national government or in the private sector for a global technology or telecommunication company with expertise in policy development and change;
  • Experience in working effectively with multinational and multicultural teams, and in efficiently managing projects and people.
