Here at Sport England, our mission is to get more people playing sport and being active – part of a lasting sporting legacy from the 2012 Games. We are looking for an experienced senior public policy manager to join the public policy team and play a key role in that exciting work.
With considerable political nouse, you will help deliver Sport England’s public affairs and Parliamentary engagement strategy at what is a particularly interesting time for UK politics and for sport policy as the new Government is formed and the new Parliament gets underway.
Having significant experience of influencing and advocating within a public policy environment, you will be confident in communicating with senior political stakeholders. You will engage new and returning MPs in a way that enhances Sport England’s reputation as an innovative, responsive organisation that represents value-for-money. You will have a sophisticated understanding of Whitehall and quickly build good working relationships with Government officials, and you will continually build your network of Parliamentarians and senior representative from sports orgs from across the sector and seek to positively influence key decision-makers.
You will develop and deliver campaigns to influence policies which affect grassroots sport, aiming to achieve outcomes which will help Sport England achieve its objectives.
You will establish yourself within the organisation as a source of expert political advice and guidance for Sport England colleagues in handling politically sensitive issues and relationships, working to protect and enhance our reputation.
Externally, you will also provide expert political advice to officials at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, other Government Departments, and Parliamentarians on community sport policy and the work of Sport England and its partners. You will ensure that Sport England fulfils its obligations to Parliament and is responsive to the needs of DCMS. You will provide accurate information for answers to Parliamentary Questions in a timely manner, input for Ministerial briefings and correspondence, and advice on community sport policy issues on an ad-hoc basis.
