The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

Do you want to use your knowledge and experience to drive policy change to improve the lives of people with cancer in the UK? We are looking for a pro-active policy professional with in depth knowledge of the welfare system to help shape and drive our welfare policy agenda.

Reporting to the Policy Manager (Welfare and Work), you will play a leading role in our policy team, using your expertise and knowledge to ensure our policy work is authoritative and relevant to the changing welfare landscape.

Working as part of the Policy and Influence (Welfare and Work) team, you will develop policy positions and solutions that work across the four nations of the UK. You will work closely with colleagues in Evidence and Macmillan’s service delivery teams to ensure our policy work is highly credible and grounded in the diverse everyday experiences of people affected by cancer and professionals.

You will support the work of colleagues across our Policy, Campaigns, Public Affairs and Media teams, providing expert advice where appropriate. You will also provide advice to senior colleagues and represent Macmillan externally.

For this key role you will have an in depth understanding of issues relating to welfare policy and experience of delivering policy change and high-level influencing, ideally in relation to people living with a disability or long-term health condition. You will be able to demonstrate experience of working as part of a team to develop and implement influencing objectives. You will be a skilled communicator with a proven ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
