A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Policy Advisor (Financial Services) with the central bank.
You will work on the following:
Policy
Examples of our policy workstreams include: the analysis of disclosure issues around providing ELA; the implications of changing liquidity regulations on planning for ELA operations and understanding how to better model bank runs.
Horizon scanning
We manage (together with Markets) the Joint Liquidity Support Watchlist, which identifies and monitors firms that may be in imminent need of liquidity assistance (either ELA or DWF).
Live Contingency Planning operations
We co-ordinate Bank-wide efforts to be in a position to lend to institutions when a need arises. Readiness to provide ELA is subject to an annual Bank-wide war game style test of planning and processes, which includes involvement from multiple EDs and the Deputy Governor of Markets and Banking.
You will have:
- Analytical skills; the team often deals with complex issues requiring deep analysis. The successful candidate will need to take a lead on discrete projects and become an expert in a particular area;
- Working under pressure; the contingency planning elements of the role can occasionally lead to high demands being placed on the team at quite short notice. The ability to work under pressure in a fast moving environment is important;
- Stakeholder Management and communications; managing relationships with other areas of the Bank and contributing to Bank-wide contingency planning activities are key responsibilities;
- Knowledge of financial services policy or another regulated market;
- Other important skills include good oral and written communication skills.
