Job Description:

To develop and communicate compelling evidence-based policy in order to change public policy, research investment and NHS practice.

You will:

  • Lead the long-term development of policy programmes including scoping needs, researching policy solutions, scoping new ideas, identifying opportunities, developing clear recommendations and influencing their uptake;
  • Develop high quality and agenda-setting policy products including reports, analyses, position statements, blogs, presentations, consultation responses and briefings to communicate the charity’s views and influence decision-makers;
  • Monitor relevant external developments in health and research policy to identify knowledge gaps and opportunities to develop new thinking and policy interventions (e.g. consultation responses) to further our client’s influencing work;
  • Develop and implement robust policy processes to ensure our client has clear, relevant, evidence-based and influential policy on key public debates and on priority areas;
  • Line manage one or more Policy Officers, supporting them to ensure their agreed business and personal development objectives are met.

Essential skills:

  • Clear understanding of current developments in health or life sciences policy;
  • Knowledge of UK policy making;
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills, including ability to present complex information in an accessible and persuasive way;
  • Ability to independently manage complex policy projects, including managing sensitive stakeholder relationships and using multi-channel communications;
  • Experience of presenting complex ideas in user-friendly ways.
