The UK’s leading property trade body is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Senior Policy Officer to join its small, but hugely effective team, focusing particularly on housing investment.

Acting on behalf of the biggest property companies, institutional investors, fund managers, investment banks and the professional firms that support them, the British Property Federation works with the government to ensure the industry’s importance to the economy is understood, and its voice is heard.

The Senior Policy Officer (Residential) will support the BPF’s Real Estate policy team by providing a timely, credible and effective lobbying service for BPF members, particularly on housing policy and help drive the Federation’s work on a UK build-to-rent sector.

The successful candidate will be part of the interface between our members and the government; ensuring our members understand government policy and requirements, and that the government is aware, and takes account, of the needs of our industry and its ability to help deliver the government’s policies. You will also help communicate the benefits of the property industry to a wider range of external audiences.

You will support the BPF’s real estate policy team in providing a timely, credible and effective lobbying service for BPF members.

This will entail the post holder:

  • Monitoring and researching policy issues related to their field;
  • Interacting professionally with the BPF’s members to elicit their opinions;
  • Assisting in the development and delivery of lobbying campaigns;
  • Communicating members’ opinions into the policymaking process, through formal consultation with Government and other external bodies, and via more proactive stances the BPF wants to take.

To be considered for the role, you will have proven, relevant experience and political nous with sound tactical judgement.

To succeed, you will need to have excellent analytical and communication skills (written and verbal), attention to detail and the confidence to advise colleagues, industry leaders and government officials on your specialist areas.

In return, we are offering an excellent salary and benefits package.
