Help shape government policy at a time of momentous change

As the UK negotiates its exit from the European Union, the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) will be at the heart of creating an economy that works for everyone. Specifically, we are responsible for developing and delivering a comprehensive industrial strategy and leading the Government’s relationship with business. We will also work to tackle climate change and ensure that the country has secure energy supplies that are reliable, affordable and clean.

This is an opportunity to join a dynamic and forward-focused department with an emphasis on innovation. You’ll work in one of our high priority policy areas in a role that will challenge and stretch you. Your expertise will be vital in helping to make the UK a more prosperous place at a time of rapid and momentous change.

Policy Groups include: Business and Science • Economics and Markets • International and Growth • Energy Transformation • Energy and Security

As a Senior Policy Officer you will develop and implement robust, fit-for-purpose policy and strategy that delivers real benefits to the UK. This means analysing complex issues and managing multiple projects and teams. You could be involved in providing high-quality advice to Ministers, offering guidance to different industry sectors, working on primary and secondary legislation, oroverseeing risk management.

Experience in and enthusiasm for developing and delivering policy is more important than any specific sector or industry expertise. Leadership skills are paramount. You will have a keen interest in politics, and proven skills in analysis, strategy and relationship management.

This is a challenge like no other – and you can be part of it.
