Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a prestigious charity during its time of restructuring the organisation. The purpose of the role is to support the team’s Policy and Campaigns Manager as the organisations most senior specialist adviser on public affairs and policy strategy. Working with internal and external stakeholders, the successful candidate will help devise and drive the organisations influencing strategy across Parliament, government departments, Public Health England and NHS England.

The successful candidate will have working experience within parliamentary affairs, policy development and management.

Key responsibilities:

  • Advising the organisation on parliamentary public affairs strategy and developing and delivering influencing strategies across main policy areas;
  • Provide strategic advice to the Policy and Campaigns Manager, Director of Communication and Chief Executive on key policy areas;
  • Build and maintain relationships with MPs, external stakeholders and parliamentarians;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across Whitehall and the NHS and representing the organisation at events;
  • Keep up to date with changing health policies and identifying opportunities within the field;
  • Provide evidence-based reports to Government consultations and advocate the brand as a whole.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Excellent working knowledge of UK Governments, Westminster and Whitehall;
  • Experience of working in the charity sector or health sector – ideally;
  • Man management experience;
  • Proven experience of working with stakeholders and successfully influencing at all levels;
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills;
  • Budget management experience is desirable.
