Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

NGI Forward is tasked with helping to set the strategy and policy agenda of the Next Generation Internet initiative, the European Commission’s ambitious new flagship programme seeking to build a more inclusive, democratic and resilient future internet. Our Senior Public Affairs Officer will play a crucial role in establishing a new policylab which will bring together high-level policymakers from across Europe and beyond, and outline an ambitious new policy agenda for the future internet.

About this exciting opportunity

You will undertake a broad range of duties, focusing on designing and delivering a public affairs and communications strategy across the EU commission, parliament and member states, plus identifying and building relationships with other key organisations and actors in the internet and technology space. You will also:

  • Develop a communications strategy and relevant content for a public affairs campaign directed at a range of audiences and channels;
  • Collaborate with the NGI team on the curation of high-profile policymaker roundtables and summits;
  • Help source communications and media opportunities as an important route to influencing key stakeholders and the NGI initiative;
  • Liaise with project partners and external contributors to help translate outputs into engaging materials and stories, experimenting with alternative ways of presenting research to engage and influence key stakeholders.

What we are looking for

An outstanding collaborator and communicator, you will have a proven track record of working in a public affairs and communications role, where you will have developed and delivered effective public affairs campaigns and project managed the creation of impactful digital content.

You will also have the ability to produce high-quality, accurate written outputs in tight timeframes and possess strong networking, interpersonal and relationship-building skills, reflective in your experience of developing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external policymakers and stakeholders.
