The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

Ellwood Atfield is working with a leading business body to recruit their new Director of Transport Policy. Focusing on the transport agenda you will be immersed in the debate surrounding aviation, rail, road and other infrastructure that ensures that the UK remains competitive.

As the Director of Transport Policy you will:

  • Manage a range of transport policy projects working closely with colleagues in pursuing the wider business plan objectives in competitiveness, planning and development;
  • Build on the strong network of relationships within the organisation and with the business community, relevant Local Government and its agencies, local authorities and Central Government;
  • Undertake background research, and policy work and campaigning on transport;
  • Influence policy and ensure the Members’ needs are effectively met, ensuring that all stakeholders are effectively engaged in the relevant project work;
  • Manage and develop their external relationships to engage them in the organisations activities and recruit new members.

To qualify for the position you must have experience of the following:

  • Extensive experience of public affairs or policy and proven in writing consultation responses, reports and connecting business with government;
  • Commercial or business development experience preferably in the private sector or a business-to-business environment;
  • Some experience of the issues around transport policy is highly desirable as is knowledge of and interest in business and public policy;
  • An analytical mind where you are able to develop policy and strategy and get others’ buy in to it;
  • Political awareness;
  • Personal effectiveness shown in your interaction with colleagues.
