The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The Royal Society of Biology is seeking a talented and committed communicator to lead our engagement with parliaments and in the public sphere. The appointee to this new role of Associate Director of Parliamentary and Public Affairs will engage directly with national and policy leaders, building relationships in Parliament, networking with the science community to ensure the exchange of inquiry and evidence supports the environment for science and the use of knowledge. They will oversee and promote communication and encouragement of excellence in bioscience engagement across the community which is an important goal of the Society.

You will be an experienced advocate with a strong vision for good communication and with the ability to bring people together, to support understanding and to deliver purposeful and impactful engagement. You will have a sound understanding of (and established network in) the science sector and the policy and political landscape and a drive to achieve improved outcomes from the input of both. You will be interested in elevating the skills and knowledge of, as well as the benefits from the biological and allied sciences.

You will draw upon a range of skills from strategic planning and actions to hands-on organisation as you lead a team focused on engagement and communication. You will contribute to decision-making within the RSB leadership and have a unique opportunity to enhance the profile and presence of the breath of the biosciences in public life. Home-based and flexible working can be considered consistent with the role.

Salary Range: £51,700 to £68,000 (dependent upon experience).
