The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

I have been exclusively been retained by a regulator to recruit their new Executive Director of Regulatory Policy and Insight.

You will:

  • Monitor and take accountability for overall organisational performance across all functions as a member of the Senior Management Team;
  • Support the Chief Executive and the Council in setting the strategic direction and strategic priorities for the organisation;
  • Thought leadership, proactively responding to, and engaging with stakeholders, recognising trends, and offering insights to inspire and influence professional practice;
  • Develop strategies and approaches to using our data and research and that of others to proactively identify risks to support professions and influence wider policy development;
  • Lead the development and implementation of the organisation’s work plans in relation to policy and standards;
  • Identify major policy and standards issues relevant to the regulation of professionals and the role of the organisation, and to lead in the development of resulting plans, standards and corporate objectives;
  • Move the organisations focus from one of enforcement to one that seeks to prevent harm from occurring in the first place ('upstream regulation') by enabling the professions we regulate to meet our standards and to adapt to changes in health and care practice delivery.

You will have:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and build effective relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders, including with senior management, Council members and Government officials;
  • Proven ability to develop in-depth understanding of legislation and to critically apply this knowledge to policy development;
  • Strong track record in formulating and implementing policy, including demonstrable achievement of intended outcomes;
  • In depth knowledge of policy environments or policy related roles at a senior/executive level;
  • Knowledge of political and governmental processes;
  • Proven leadership ability as a senior manager in an organisation of similar complexity, with clear evidence of contribution at strategic level;
  • Experience of managing, motivating and developing teams of employees across a number of disciplines and functions;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and build effective relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders, including with senior management, Council members and Government officials;
  • Proven ability to act as a credible, informed spokesperson on regulation.
