Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

A fixed term, maternity cover contract with a highly respected membership body, a leader in its field and representing a much-valued, long-standing industry.

Reporting to the Managing Director, you’ll continue to create and implement a cohesive policy and engagement strategy to maximise the effectiveness and reach of the organisation’s messaging and issues across the UK, Ireland and the EU where appropriate. In addition to monitoring legislation and producing reports on policy priorities and submissions, you’ll continue to build and maintain relations with political stakeholders, related trade associations, and peers across the industry, while providing intelligence and counsel to the SMT. These priorities are flexible in the COVID context, but policy horizon-scanning and member engagement are crucial elements in helping this sector navigate through the pandemic.

A proven track record in developing and delivering public affairs strategies is essential along with a keen understanding of the UK political landscape and policy development process, and existing networks across Westminster and Whitehall.

Both creative and strategic, with the presence and credibility to a provide senior level counsel internally and represent the organisation to external stakeholders, you’ll be skilled in engaging with, and influencing, political stakeholders, with strong writing skills and an eye for detail. Sector experience is of less importance although retail would be a plus.
