Passionate about heritage, keenly interested in policy-making and driven to make a difference to the future of the UK’s historic environment? Join our team.

Historic Houses represents the UK’s largest collection of independent historic houses, castles and gardens, many with open doors waiting to be explored. The 1,500 historic houses and gardens we represent are not static museums but living, dynamic examples of our past, present and future. They make a hugely important economic, social and cultural contribution to the nation – in normal times, welcoming 26 million visits each year, generating in excess of £1 billion in visitor spend, supporting more than 33,000 FTE jobs and welcoming hundreds of thousands of education visitors.

We are looking for a bright, proactive Policy Officer with a passion for the special places we represent, a keen interest in advocacy and sharp attention to detail. Our dedicated policy team works closely with government, stakeholders and politicians across the political spectrum to shape and influence policy for the benefit of heritage and tourism. This is an exciting time to join us; helping shape the policy environment for our members as they recover from the pandemic, as we continue to represent our members’ interests in an ever-expanding range of issues and policy areas and are busy implementing a dynamic public affairs strategy to raise our profile in Westminster, Holyrood, Cardiff and Stormont.

Location

Based at Warwick House, 25-27 Buckingham Palace Road, London, SW1W 0PP.  A Hybrid Working Policy is currently in place to allow staff members to work from home. The role also requires occasional travel to Historic Houses events outside London.
