An opportunity has arisen to join our Taskforce for Lung Health secretariat team. Reporting to the Senior Policy and Project Manager for the Taskforce, your role will be to raise awareness of the priorities of the Taskforce by planning and delivering our media strategy. This is a great opportunity for a media expert who is looking to take the next step in their career.

One person in five in the UK is affected by lung disease. As the only UK charity for people affected by all lung and respiratory diseases – from mild asthma through to lung cancer – the Asthma UK - British Lung Foundation is here for every one of them. We provide support, fund vital research, and campaign for better prevention, treatment and care.

Asthma UK and the British Lung Foundation jointly provide secretariat support to the Taskforce for Lung Health. The Taskforce is the largest ever coalition of over 30 organisations and individuals with an interest in respiratory health. At the end of 2018 we published our Five Year Plan making recommendations to prevent more people from developing lung disease, and to transform the care of people living with lung disease.

We are looking for a Press and Campaigns Manager to help the Taskforce turn this plan into a reality. This role will work with the Taskforce secretariat as well as Taskforce members to shape and deliver our media work, through generating media coverage, sharing patient stories and providing oversight of our external communications. Your work will convince both the public and decision makers to support the changes we need to see to improve outcomes for people affected by lung disease.

You will lead the Taskforce for Lung Health’s media work, planning our media strategy, spotting opportunities for coverage and writing and managing the sign off process for press releases. You will plan and produce social media content and blogs in support of our priority areas, ensuring our external communications is factually correct and meets our campaigning aims.

You will have an excellent working knowledge of media strategy in the UK, and proven experience of working in a press, campaigns or communications role. You will enjoy being proactive and working to your own initiative. You will also be confident in managing stakeholder relationships and are capable at building strong relationships both internally and externally.

This is a great opportunity for a confident communicator with lots of ideas to take the next step in their career.

As well as a competitive salary, you’ll enjoy a range of benefits including our cycle-to-work scheme, interest-free annual season Travelcard loan, 30 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), pension scheme and much more.

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to an organisation committed to supporting everyone whose life is changed by lung disease.

Location: Mansell Street, London. Currently working remotely from home in line with government pandemic requirements.

Permanent/Temporary: Fixed term role until December 2023.
