Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

I am currently recruiting for a Principal / Senior Policy Adviser with a global membership body.

You will:

  • Work closely with colleagues in other country offices, the post holder will lead work on:
    • Asia, including UK business input into UK Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with Japan, Australia and New Zealand and future FTAs with Singapore and Vietnam;
    • Global Market access work, which seeks to tackle barriers to trade and investment in countries where trade deals aren’t yet possible, particularly India and China;
    • Import tariff policy, including follow up to the UK Government’s consultation on the new UK Global Tariff and tariff aspects of free ports;
  • This work will include in-depth policy analysis, research, engagement with members and wider stakeholders including foreign governments and think tanks, organising senior level events as well as writing reports, drafting press releases, articles, tweets and blogs. 

You will have:

  • Understanding of UK and EU political institutions and the broad political landscape;
  • Knowledge of trade policy dynamics is highly desirable but those with strong experience of policy and international negotiations will also be considered;
  • Experience of working with a diverse range of stakeholders, including with senior figures is essential;
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of business processes is essential.

What's on offer:

  • £36,000 - £46,000 PA DOE plus benefits (more may be available for an exceptional candidate).
