Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

Join the Network

The Local Government Association speaks with one voice on behalf of local government in England and Wales. We are made up of elected representatives from all the different political parties and aim to set the political agenda on the issues that matter to councils.

We are looking to recruit to the position of Public Affairs and Campaigns Adviser.  The successful candidate will work with colleagues from across the LGA to enhance the political influence and profile of our Association and local government. This includes supporting our work influencing parliamentary debates, parliamentary committees and legislation in order to secure positive change on behalf of councils. The post holder is also responsible for helping to support local government to engage with Parliament, including briefing senior LGA members and officials ahead of parliamentary inquiries and as part of the LGA’s engagement at conferences.

About you

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate experience of having worked in a fast moving political, parliamentary, and / or public affairs environment, managing a diverse workload and completing projects on tight deadlines. A strong and practical understanding of parliamentary procedure is essential. You will need outstanding communication skills and be highly organised. You will need to be an enthusiastic team player and to be able to develop good working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, both internally and externally.
