Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

ADS is the national trade association for the UK’s Aerospace, Defence, Security and Space sectors. We work across Industry and with Government to ensure that our sectors have access to the markets, supply chains, technologies and skills they need to succeed globally.

The Role

Working in the Policy, Economics, Public Affairs and Media (PEPAM) team, the Public Affairs Manager is responsible for managing and implementing the ADS public affairs programme, delivering political engagement with Government and Parliament to further the trade association’s political reputation and goals.

Provide political input to the ADS PEPAM team, developing political strategy and policy positions. Representing ADS externally where required and supporting senior ADS colleagues with political and industry engagement.

The role reports directly to the Director of Policy with two direct reports in the Public Affairs Team (Senior Public Affairs Adviser and Public Affairs Adviser).

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have an in-depth understanding of how political developments impact business and ADS members and a proven ability in formulating effective engagement plans to communicate key messages.

We are looking for candidates who can identify opportunities as part of a proactive programme of activity that supports ADS policy priorities and business objectives.

Experience in successfully delivering campaigns and political engagement activities in a public affairs role in house, with an agency or other stakeholder context.

You will have a clear and concise communication style, including proficient written and verbal communication skills.

We seek a candidate with internal and external stakeholder management experience, to develop impactful positions and deliver high-quality public affairs activity.
