Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

ScotlandIS is the independent and membership-led industry body and cluster management organisation for the digital and technology sectors in Scotland. Our mission is to work with members, government and other stakeholders to develop the industry in Scotland. 

We are currently seeking a new Research and Policy Manager to join our team.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer the successful candidate will be expected to:

  • initiate, deliver and communicate policy and research work to key stakeholders on an extensive range of industry issues through website articles, reports, briefing papers, presentations, etc;
  • be knowledgeable on both the digital and technology industries and the Scottish economy and have a sound understanding of other major public policy issues and institutions in Scotland, the UK and Europe;
  • have highly developed analytical, organisational and project management skills to ensure delivery of high-quality, evidence-based outputs across policy consultations, research projects and presentations;
  • have experience of conducting surveys, exploratory data analysis and qualitative research;
  • demonstrate strong commercial awareness in identifying and generating project revenue and in managing project budgets;
  • will be able to build networks and communicate effectively with policy makers and influencers, including ScotlandIS members, stakeholders, politicians and media;
  • demonstrate the political sensitivity and professionalism which maintains and enhances ScotlandIS’ reputation for objectivity, inclusivity and political impartiality;
  • have had some experience in leading projects and/or small teams.

The post requires excellent analytical, written, presentation and interpersonal skills; and the flexibility and drive to play a key role at this pivotal time in influencing the agenda for this key driver of Scotland’s economy.

Location: Linlithgow (working from home during COVID-19 pandemic), regular travel within Scotland, usually during office hours.
