The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

About the role

  • You’ll plan and implement the charity’s public affairs and parliamentary activities, developing effective relationships with decision-makers;
  • You’ll also coordinate the involvement activities of people affected by Parkinson’s in developing organisational policy positions and meeting decision-makers.

What you'll do

  • Act as a senior advocate to raise the profile of the charity and improve understanding of the condition with decision-makers;
  • Identify and develop effective relationships with key parliamentarians, influencers and decision-makers to encourage support for our campaigns;
  • Provide the Secretariat to the All-Party Group on Parkinson’s;
  • Collaborate with staff across the UK to develop, deliver and evaluate relevant parliamentary activities and events.

What you'll bring

  • Proven experience of lobbying, working in Parliament or in a public affairs environment at a senior level;
  • Experience in political analysis and of working in a political environment with sound political judgement, sensitivity and an in-depth understanding of the relationships and key players in health and care, welfare, work, transport and the disability arena;
  • Experience of involving service users in steering groups and public affairs activities;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and manage relationships with high-profile policy and decision-makers;
  • Research, analytical and information gathering skills and the ability to present it in a persuasive manner;
  • Ability to maintain political impartiality and be discreet;
  • Ability to organise internal and external events and meetings and building working relationships
