The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

I am currently recruiting for a Senior Policy Manager with a Housing Association. The role can be based in Kent, Croydon or Essex.

You will:

  • Establish processes, channels and networks to ensure that the organisation remains up to date with the requirements for policy change across its activities;
  • Assess, interpret and adopt policy into operational practice, liaising with teams to ensure the changes are embedded into systems and processes taking into account the various associated risks;
  • Lead on strategic policy projects and respond to new opportunities across the housing sector;
  • Work with the Insight Team to ensure that we have actionable insight to shape our response to the current and evolving local and national policy environment;
  • Provide expertise and advice on policy matters to the organisation, providing ad hoc briefs to the director, CEO, Board and ET as required.
  • Maintain and continually improve the stakeholder database;
  • Work collaboratively, on behalf of the Executive, with major stakeholders and peers on key projects, particularly around welfare reform, strategic

You will have:

  • A degree level qualification or equivalent, with excellent written / verbal English;
  • A self-starter who can take the initiative to identify and prioritise areas of work;
  • Ability to take a solutions-focussed approach to housing challenges;
  • A good awareness of relevant UK policy frameworks coupled with an understanding of affordable housing and the wider environment for housing associations. Though those without will also be considered;
  • Ability to develop and maintain a strong external network covering local and central government and their impact on housing associations;
  • Experience of distilling policy changes in a way that shapes and informs business outcomes and enables the wide understanding of complex issues.
