The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

Job Description

You will:

  • Project manage and deliver policy implementation such as briefings, articles, roundtables and consultation responses, working closely with the Employers workforce programme teams and wider policy team;
  • Provide expertise and a good understanding of current workforce policy in order to regularly provide contributions to discussions and written materials;
  • Produce high quality written products for a diverse range of audiences;
  • Work with teams to understand member insight and intelligence;
  • Work with teams to understand existing policy influencing activity and lead activity to undertake further influence policy design at a national level and implementation locally to help organisations meet the expectations of them. This includes gathering examples of best practice;
  • Work on specific policy projects on a responsive basis, individually or working collaboratively with the wider policy team. These will be areas of work our members see as a priority, as agreed with senior team colleagues;
  • Work with communications team colleagues to feed into press statements to respond to enquiries from the media or proactively promote our work or that of the networks;
  • Manage effective relationships with relevant external organisations to collaborate or work on joint policy projects and products where appropriate;
  • Ensure connectivity and provide relevant content into ore policy work programme, and wider stakeholders to ensure the workforce requirements are connected into system level conversations or lobbying activity as part of the integrated member offer;
  • Represent the organisation at external events and meetings, promoting and briefing on our activity, member products and keeping in touch with the work of key stakeholders.

The Successful Applicant

Experience of:

  • leading complex programmes of work with multiple stakeholders;
  • using effective programme management approaches: governance and assurance;
  • developing policy content that is well articulated and influences decision makers;
  • using data and intelligence to underpin policy content;
  • developing effective and purposeful relationships with colleagues and external partners/stakeholders;
  • adapting plans and delivery to the needs of a changing landscape;
  • producing impactful written material for multiple audiences;
  • analytical skills with the ability to translate complex policy information into succinct briefings;
  • able to write succinctly, understand complex arguments and develop written material that will be able to persuade policy makers.
