About PubAffairs

Established in 2002, PubAffairs is the award-winning network for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

Our 4,000+ members come from all aspects of UK, EU and International public affairs and communications teams: in-house corporate, trade association, charity, political consultancy, NGOs, think tanks, law firms, Parliaments, Devolved Assemblies, civil service, local government, the media, market research, political monitoring, polling, students, training providers, recruiters and government associated bodies.

Watch the PubAffairs film to find out more about us and the public affairs industry, featuring our 125th UK networking event from June 2013, and which includes a broad range of industry practitioners talking about: the importance and role of public affairs in the development of policy & legislation; common misconceptions about the industry; challenges ahead; career advice; and the importance of networking.

Industry Networking Events

PubAffairs events enable a broad range of practitioners to network with their peers on an informal basis and are the established public affairs industry gatherings. Our Westminster events have been run every last Thursday of the month since 2002, and as the network has expanded, events have also taken place regionally, nationally and internationally. The PubAffairs group includes specialist networks for Public Affairs Freelancers, PubAffairs Scotland and PubAffairs EU.

The PubAffairs Network: Adding Value to the Industry

PubAffairs runs the leading Jobs Board for public affairs, policy, campaigns and government communications related vacancies. In our jobs section, you can find career advice and be inspired by fellow practitioners’ experiences in our PubAffairs Profiles section. As a graduate or new entrant to public affairs, you will be able to find valuable information about starting out in the industry through GraduateForward, where our separate jobs board and advice centre will help you find out more about getting your foot on the public affairs ladder. If you’re looking for a service provider, the Public Affairs Resource Centre is the comprehensive directory of lobbying and public affairs links to information including UK public affairs consultancies, experts to assist your European Affairs engagement programme and freelance consultants. The Resource Centre also contains information about training course providers, monitoring and information services, polling and market research and recruitment consultancies.

Free to Join

PubAffairs is free to join and members are from all levels and all sectors working in government affairs, policy, campaigning, stakeholder relations, corporate communications and lobbying.

Origins of the Network

The network was set up by public affairs practitioner Phil Murphy who, having taken up a role in Westminster after working in Brussels, recognised a need for informal peer-to-peer networking. The first event in January 2002 brought together ten fellow practitioners and its popularity quickly grew. PubAffairs is an independent organisation, which became a limited company in 2006. The co-Founders of PubAffairs are Jim Rothwell and Pauliina Murphy. Learn more about the PubAffairs Team.
