European Election Results

The RESULTS of the European Elections 2014 will be coming through from across the EU on the evening of 25th May. The European Parliament Information Office in the UK invites you to join us at an event at Europe House in London.

Please join us from 6.30pm as we find out how the people of the UK and across the EU voted.

7.15pm | Pan-European Projection of the Chamber based on exit polls/estimates

At 7.15 we'll have the first reliable pan-European estimates. Based on this we'll have several discussions as we await the actual results at 10pm.

Debates

  • Social media - was it a social media election?
  • UK media reporting on EP2014
  • The rise of Eurosceptic parties - did it happen?

10pm | First official results at EU and national levels

Once the polling stations across the EU have all closed - the last votes can be cast in Italy until 23.00 CET on Sunday 25th May - the first results for the whole of the EU will be made public.

Results from those countries (including UK) voting earlier than Sunday 25th will be kept secret until all polling stations have closed in order to ensure that other countries' results do not influence voters.

Debate

  • What do the results (so far) mean for the UK?

Chair

Maxine Mawhinney, BBC

Confirmed Panelists

  • Dr Andy Williamson, Consultant and blogger on political digital engagement
  • John Palmer, former European Editor of The Guardian and then Founder/Political Director of The European Policy Centre in Brussels
  • Dr Simon Usherwood, Surrey University

For those of you on Twitter, the hashtag for the debate is #EU2014UK.
