Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

Join the Network

The Policy and Communications Team Assistant will play a vital role as the glue of our busy team. He or she will undertake finance administration tasks, make travel arrangements and provide personal support to the Director of Policy and Communications, as part of the virtual team of Assistants working across our three offices.

Key tasks / responsibilities

  • Process purchase order requests, expense claims and invoices for payment using the company’s finance systems;
  • Assist the team with admin tasks around event management, press office and media monitoring;
  • Assist with travel arrangements for the Director and other staff as requested;
  • Undertake basic desk research;
  • Oversee the smooth running of meetings for the Director, including room bookings, greeting visitors, managing the videolink and taking notes on request;
  • Assemble briefings for the Director in advance of meetings;
  • Take and circulate minutes of team meetings and awaydays o Support the team with other admin tasks as requested.

Skills, experience and competencies

Essential

  • Experience carrying out admin tasks in an office environment, including basic finance tasks (eg. raising POs, filing invoices);
  • Familiarity with Outlook and MS software, excel in particular;
  • Highly organised and proactive;
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal/writing);
  • Appreciation of the objectives and activities of Smart Energy GB;
  • Appreciate the diversity of the people and communities of Great Britain and embrace this diversity in your approach to work.

Advantageous

  • Energetic and enthusiastic approach;
  • Familiarity with Powerpoint;
  • Experience in a policy or communications environment.
