The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

Role summary

The Policy and Public Affairs Assistant role is a new addition to the Policy and Public Affairs team at BHF Scotland. You will join BHF Scotland at an exciting time for both the charity and heart health in Scotland as we move to develop and establish new work and projects in the country.

You will provide policy and public affairs support as part of our policy-led influencing strategies in Scotland. You’ll play an active part in approaching and building key relationships in parliament, government and the wider third sector. You will also work closely alongside policy and public affairs colleagues and with the Health Service Engagement team.

Please note this is a fixed term contract for 42 weeks.

About you

The successful candidate will have a good understanding of policy influencing but more importantly show an eagerness to learn and develop in the role and contribute effectively to a dynamic policy and public affairs team.

With excellent communication and team building skills you will establish strong working relationships with key stakeholders quickly and with ease. You’ll have strong organisational skills, able to work on multiple projects at any one time and liaise with colleagues throughout the country on key pieces of work.

This role would ideally suit someone who is looking to begin a career in policy and public affairs or looking to return to work.
