We are looking for a proactive, service-focused Policy Assistant to join our Prudential Regulation team.

You will be part of a team of three Policy Advisers and reporting to the Assistant Director, Head of Prudential Regulation. Your job is to provide essential support to the team’s work in undertaking policy analysis and influencing both the prudential regulatory policy agenda and investments aspects of prudential regulation.

You do not need to have prior expertise in insurance – we are open to any policy development background. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to learn from and develop in a friendly, professional and hugely knowledgeable team.

Your role:

  • Prepare initial drafts of policy papers and summary documents to a high standard;
  • Provide proactive and efficient administration support to manage relations with the ABI Prudential Regulation Committee – including drafting the agenda for events and meetings and producing slide decks;
  • Be the go to person for our members, making sure you are a trusted source of information for relevant developments at UK, EU and international level;
  • Collate and write high quality member communications to give ABI members the inside track on all prudential policy developments, including producing the monthly team newsletter;
  • Monitor, coordinate and update colleagues and ABI members on EU Directives, as and when required.

We’re looking for:

  • A graduate level candidate with some early career experience;
  • Ability to understand and summarise complex documents and make them accessible for others;
  • A keen interest in developing knowledge on the prudential regulation of the insurance sector and capital markets and to learn from ABI colleagues, ABI members and other external partners;
  • A confident communicator who enjoys working closely with internal and external contacts;
  • Exceptionally strong organisational skills and a high concern for quality and attention to detail;
  • Mature and positive, with a “can-do” attitude and willingness to adapt to changing work demands.

In return, we offer a competitive salary and the opportunity to work in a fast-moving and friendly environment at the trade association for one of the UK’s biggest, most successful industries.
