The CHPA is seeking an enthusiastic Policy Intern to support the delivery of an ambitious programme of policy development and stakeholder engagement.

The CHPA is a leading advocate for a more local and less wasteful energy system. We offer an exciting and dynamic place to work, engaging with decision makers at the forefront of energy policy, and helping to shape the future energy market.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive person to work with our policy team to promote improvements in the law, in regulation and in public policy that will facilitate the sustainable development of combined heat and power and district heating and cooling in the UK.

The role will embrace a broad spectrum of public policy, including energy markets, renewables, energy efficiency, planning, and infrastructure, and may also involve working directly with government departments, local authorities, regulators and parliamentarians.

The candidate will require strong analytical, organisational and communication skills, working as part of the larger policy team. The ability to communicate complex topics effectively to a diverse range of audiences and to work collaboratively and constructively with colleagues and stakeholders will be key attributes. Previous experience in the energy sector or public affairs would be an advantage and a strong interest in energy policy essential. This position would be ideal for someone who is in the final stages of completing their Masters degree.
