Orbit Communications, one of Scotland’s leading communications consultancies, is recruiting for the position of Account Director/Senior Account Manager on a part-time basis.
We have an expertise in PR, public affairs, digital and design. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for a communications expert with agency experience who seeks a role which balances leadership, creative and strategic responsibilities. There is the opportunity of working 2-3 days per week, depending on the candidate’s preference.
The successful applicant will take responsibility for managing a range of PR and public affairs client accounts on a day-to-day basis and will play a leadership role within a small team. They will also support the Managing Director in driving business development.
The new team member will be expected to work from Orbit’s office in Charlotte Square for at least part of the working week, with the flexibility of working from home for the remainder (open to negotiation). Main duties and responsibilities:
To manage client relationships and develop account management strategies in accordance with clients’ strategic communications objectives.
- To coordinate team input to client accounts, ensuring work is delivered to a high standard, on time and within budget;
- Where necessary, to manage day-to-day relationships with clients, ensuring they receive structured and strategic communications advice and support;
- To work in close consultation with the client, to plan and implement communications strategies on their behalf;
- To assist clients to develop positive relationships with target stakeholders and to influence decision-making and the political process;
- To manage relationships with journalists and the media on behalf of clients;
- To be responsible for the line management of selected individuals in more junior positions;
- Where appropriate, to support Managing Director with staff recruitment, general management and motivation of the wider team;
- To lead on, or make a leading contribution to, new client pitches;
- Where appropriate, to sell in additional design services that can further assist the client to achieve their communications objectives.

Qualifications
- Educated to at least graduate level (or equivalent);
- A full, driving licence for driving in the UK is preferred;
- Membership of the CIPR and/or PRCA preferred.
Experience
- A particular knowledge and a proven track record of professional work experience at Account Director level / Senior Account Manager (minimum five years) in PR, public affairs and stakeholder engagement. The successful applicant must demonstrate strong skills and professional experience in the above areas, as well as a clear understanding of how they interact and can be brought to bear in order to further the goals of our clients and the business;
- A motivated self-starter who will undertake an active client-facing and business development role. The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate a strategic approach and have the confidence to manage their own workload and client relationships, combined with the knowledge and experience to be able to develop and deliver new business leads and associated opportunities;
- As well as being an excellent team player, the successful applicant will be expected to use their initiative and manage the skills of our team to deliver clear, measurable outcomes for clients as well as demonstrating an ability to attract new clients and contribute actively to the future growth of the business;
- Proven knowledge of working with project management systems and understanding of the commercial aspects of agency life;
- Strong people management skills;
- Excellent grasp of all Microsoft Office based software.
