Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

Westbourne is a fast-growing communications agency based in the heart of London. We offer a full range of public relations services including public affairs, media relations, campaigning and stakeholder engagement.

We have two complementary practices. Our "change opinion" practice helps shape opinion through the use of advocacy techniques like public affairs and media relations. Our "engage opinion" practice helps clients have meaningful dialogues with their stakeholders and local communities. The candidate will work on projects across both practices. We work for a range of high-profile clients on some of the most important and complex issues facing the UK, such as house building, devolution to cities, aviation and shale gas.

We are looking for a talented and self-starting communications and public affairs professional to join us to work on some of the highest profile campaigns in the country.

Desired Skills and Experience

Required

  • University graduate (2:1 or higher), ideally with a focus on politics or public policy;
  • Experience in communications at an agency, Parliament, a think tank or campaign organisation;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Research and analysis experience of political or policy issues;
  • Strong attention to detail and project management skills;
  • A strong work ethic, determination to excel and great interpersonal skills.

Desirable

  • Event management experience;
  • Politically engaged;
  • Journalism or copywrighting experience.

The Role

  • Drafting monitoring reports;
  • Tracking political developments, media relations issues and topical day-to-day current affairs issues that impact the business of our clients;
  • Producing analysis of Parliamentary and public policy issues;
  • Organising events.

This is a job for someone who would relish the opportunity to be at the heart of some of the biggest debates in the country, working on high-profile issues with a growing PR agency.
