I am currently looking for a Director of Research & Regulatory Affairs (renewable energy). The essential responsibilities will include conducting fundamental electricity market research for various European markets, assessing regulatory and political trends related to renewables, and representing the organisation with regulators related to market issues where necessary.

More specifically you will:

  • Research and evaluate sources of information to determine the long-term energy supply, demand and pricing outlooks for a particular country/region;
  • Work with team to establish views on electricity, carbon and fuel price trends and drivers, based on short- and long-term market fundamentals;
  • Develop and maintain deep knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the energy markets in Europe;
  • Develop and provide clear and concise presentations to support pricing and market outlooks;
  • Analyse, interpret and assess regulatory and political trends related to renewables in core markets;
  • Maintain strong external relationships with key regulatory bodies, particularly at the EU level.

As the suitable candidate you will have:

  • Post-graduate degree in economics, finance or engineering or related discipline;
  • Extensive experience in regulated energy markets in Europe;
  • Extensive experience and understanding of power markets, whether regulated or competitive in multiple jurisdictions and of various power products;
  • A demonstrable understanding of price drivers within power markets;
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to provide direction and coaching to team members;
  • Ability to research/assess regulatory and political trends;
  • Political acuity, including understanding of impact of political direction on core business drivers.
